The Strum Lantern illustrated here by Johann Christoph Sturm in his book Collegium experimentale sive curiosum (1677), shows an earlier version of the Magic Lantern. The idea behind this device were to use slides to project images. As it was merely part of conceptualizing the idea and applications of this device I thought it was important to show this example of a very early idea of the soon to be "Magic Lantern". [15]
